Spring Botanical Exhibition
2015’s Spring exhibition theme was Botanical. Flowers ‘Spring’ to mind, but this was set to be a little less predictable than your aunties florals. Visitors experienced a different sort of exhibition experience as they relaxed and strolled around the ‘garden gallery’, reminiscent of a Victorian palmhouse. The exhibition will ran from the new moon, vernal equinox, and finished when the moon was full, Easter Saturday. There was the usual high standard of art available from local and national artists. Some were big and bold like Mia Tarney’s highly sought after limited editions. Others paid homage to the classic botanical illustrations of the 17th century such as hand coloured etchings from Basil Besler’s original drawings. Then there were those that fall a little further from the botanical tree like the inspired mind of Jenny Murphey, an avid lover of the magic in nature. A visit to this exhibition will be time well spent for the experience alone.
